Bells Yew Green 1st XI beat Fletching 2nd XI

Bells Yew Green 1st XI maintained their 2 year unbeaten record, scraping home by 3-runs against a battling Fletching 2nd XI. Visiting captain Ali Horscroft won the toss for the first time this season and chose to field.

Matt LeeJack Horscroft and Chris were making their senior debuts after being called up from the all conquering under 13’s and apparently both put in tremendous performances in the field and were a huge credit to themselves and the club.

Chris Hartup made the breakthrough in the sixth over, catching Hulbert LBW. The next incident of note happened soon after when Matt Lee dived to prevent a boundary on the sloping outfield, fell heavily, and managed to dislocate his shoulder. Despite his claims that it was only a scratch and that he should continue playing, Matt was instructed to remain still as an ambulance was summoned. When the ambulance turned up half an hour later I was carted off…and thus completes my report (plus it takes far too long typing with one hand!!).

When I locate the scorebook and have two functioning arms I’ll add more details.
