We batted first, despite losing the toss and were immediately in trouble against some very tight Lindfield bowling and fielding. We were much too eager to hit out too soon, and were vulnerable to good length balls as a result. Lindfield were taking all chances offered and running us out when the chance arose. Jack Jenkins hit hard for his 23 to keep our noses above the water, then later on Chris, Teddy, George and Ollie McIntosh gave our score some respectability, especially Ollie who batted brilliantly for his 26.
In the field we struggled early on, giving away too many extras and incurring some boundaries, but all of a sudden our luck turned as we started to play together as a team, with the coup de grace delivered by bowlers Ollie Blanchard, Chris Baird and, most spectacularly, William Love with his astonishing 6 for 3.
Great win guys, but some lessons to be learned about not slogging straight balls and about steady straight bowling.
